Uptown Live at 5 : Jenny Parrott and Sweet Gary Newcomb

Jenny has played prisons, a Black Panther reunion party, children’s shows, streets all over the world, and every basement from here to New York.

Jenny Parrott (she/they) released their third solo album, Pregnancy Choir (2022). The album features Parrott’s three+ octave voice, which leads the listener on an all vocal journey into the depths of the transition to parenthood.

“I want to grow, help other people grow, give people faith, hope, inspiration, liberation for all.”

Songwriting and collaboration are a core of their practice. JP hosts singing and writing workshops as a part of their work to liberate voices. In their time in Austin, JP has also hosted monthly “femme jams”, a safe place for women and non-binary folks to jam and explore music, and has worked with the local non-profit, Communitas.

You can currently catch Jenny every Friday at the Hole in the Wall with their eclectic mix of guitar, synth, omnichord, vocals—and lighting up rooms all over Austin whether she’s singing in English or Spanish.
