During this 90-minute workshop, Kyle Brandt-Lubart will read a selection of her poetry and discuss how the concept of “dialectics” informs her work. At its core, dialectics refers to the process of establishing an inclusive dialogue that simultaneously validates two seemingly contradictory elements. Dialectic thinking can be a powerful personal wellness tool. Using an approach that is accessible to people with no prior exposure to the concept, Brandt-Lubart will explain what dialectic thinking is and how it can be used as an internal resource. Then, by facilitating a writing exercise and community conversation, workshop participants will have the opportunity to explore how different aspects of their own identities can enter into dialogue with one another.
