Event Details

Kate Cholewa has had an interesting 12 years. In that time, she went from having a curiosity about how the phenomenon of medical marijuana in Montana in 2009 could be used for her next novel to a journey that spans Humboldt, California to Ashville, North Carolina, federal raids to getting attacked by a grizzly bear, to writing or participating in the crafting of all of the five major pieces of marijuana legislation to pass in Montana in the past six years.
She will read selections from a work in progress about her 12 year journey which entailed lost innocence, profound fear, the discovery of the meaning of surrender, and lifelong quest to understand the dynamics of change – of the transformative process – whether through spirituality, science, or politics.
She will also share some of the zaniness of her path through the landscape of marijuana policy. This will be an open discussion. She’s happy to answer any questions about the phenomenon of legal marijuana in Montana
